The original ski mittens issued
in 1941 and 1942 were made of cream-color deerskin leather. They came
in four sizes:

Small (12 inches long),
Medium (12.5 inches long),
Large (13 inches long),
Extra Large (13.5 inches long).

Rather than the trigger-finger commonly seen
on the poplin mittens used during most of World War II, the leather mittens
had a flap that exposed the entire right hand.
