Snowshoe, Trail, Type II

Developed, tested, and adopted in
1944, the Type II trail snowshoe may have not been produced until the late
1940's. Many examples exist that are dated 1949 to 1953, but do any exist
that are dated 1944 or 1945? Finding a World War II period Type II
snowshoe would prove they were made, so if you have, or know of, a surviving
example, please let me know.
The side rails can be either solid or laminated wood. Note the
triangular wooden gusset that easily marks this as a Type II Trail Snowshoe.
